Eksperimentalni film u tuškancu
Sound and Music Videos
7th of November 2006 at 20 h / 78’
Since MTV started in 1981 music and visuals have had best encounters in the music video clip, although even before that they were connected in a similar form by "experimental" production which very early became aware of the importance of the sound and music in combination with visual background. Today it is hard to say what is the background visuals or sound, but the answer to this question is generally provided by the Western civilization based on the culture of "watching" as well as the very banal fact that we will pay attention to what is predetermined as "form".
However, since "video did not kill radio star", but capitalism killed music television, one of the places where we can now watch music video clips are film festivals, which, though, preferring visuals, still at least acknowledge "artistic" achievements of such short form. It could be said that generally popular video clips by hyper-production forced music televisions to turn more to commercials and "reality shows", making video clips find their place under the sun on festivals. This has probably been enhanced by the interest of those who experiment to direct their careers to a more commercial, more profitable or just more challenging form.
So even the program before you is not a video clip program, the other works use somewhat similar poetics fast editing, witty remark, exceptional visuals and pitching in only a couple of minutes which can be considered the basic elements of video clips. Still, some authors are primarily known from the "experimental story" (Dariusz Kowalski), some hail from advertising (Gints Apsits), others are oriented to animation processes and flamboyance of digital image (Patrick Doan), while some are already old acquaintances to everybody who follow contemporary "artistic" video clip production (Corine Stübi, Shynola)…
Gathered in a same place like this they definitely promise enjoyment for eyes and ears.
